All this time I just been listened to other people’s experiences in Makkah/Madinah; whatever we do correctly/incorrectly, everything will be ‘paid cash’ there.
12 June 2010, Madinah (Masjid Qiblatain) – Everyone in my group was performed dhuha prayer here. On my way out from the meditation region, two female arabians were shouting to each other and I never tried to comprehend the quarrel since every single words was in arab. BTW, deep in my heart said, “wow, daring nya minah-minah arab nie, selambe bergaduh kalau tak puas hati”.
Actually I was heading to the bus downstairs then ten steps further I had to line up to be on escalator. In front of me there was one of the daring-arab-woman-who-just-quarreled to get onto the escalator. She was horrified looking at that moving stairs and once again I undoubtedly said to my mother, “Laaaa, tadi nampak hebat sangat bergaduh, naik escalator pon nak takut!” and she smiled.
On the way down, I could see 20 people were queuing up for inoccupied escalator and if one of them safely reached upstairs, they gave a big applause. It was funny and I laughed. I’m telling the truth. I never knew that all-black-arabs-in-purdah were not get used to escalator.
13 June 2010, Madinah (Masjid Nabawi) – All this while I never noticed the escalator to get down to the area for ablution and I excitedly dragged my mother there and said, “eh, ada escalator lah mama nak pegi ambil wudu bawah ni” and we together get down easily by escalator. We already had ablution, once again we need to wait for two arab women to make step on the escalator to go upstairs. We made steps a while after them and we were just 3 steps down on that moving stairs. I dont know why but suddenly they seemed unbalanced and fell backwards and lied on us. I am pretty sure everyone can estimate the weight of a-40years-female-arab, if not im gonna tell u, it is around 100 kg per person! OMG. Then two person lied on us? Frankly speaking I’m not sooooo slim but you know, I also can be categorized as quite slim and how could I withstand to this lying arab on me? I felt so horrible and tried to free and ‘unwrap’ myself from that pathetic lady. Next task was to get my mother up because she stuck on that escalator since that 100kg arab unconsciously lying on her. Alhamdulillah merely a little bit of effort, I could get my mother up and we straightly helped those arabs and about 3 minutes later they able to stand up. Phewww!
In Masjid Nabawi, my mother complained her leg was hurt and when I looked there was bruise and swollen! And I had backache
We realized and blamed ourselves for laughing to our own relatives in Masjid Qiblatain instead of helping them to get onto escalator.
Moral of the story : Cooperation is important in Islam, mind your words not only in Makkah/Madinah but try to practice everywhere and don’t ever think people seeking for help were cumbersome.
